Teixeira was removed from the lineup shortly before Saturday night's game because of a sore left wrist, the Associated Press reports.

Recommendation: Teixeira is day to day. He was replaced at first by Nick Swisher. Replacing Swisher in left field was Johnny Damon, who was supposed to have the night off.

great! Tex never missed a game when I didn't own him, and now that I do he's not in the line up back to back days...anyway..

Wrist tendinitis...don't only old people have that? :-D

On a more serious note, how likely is this injury to keep him out on a weekly basis? I understand that rest is the best cure for tendinitis along with a cortisone shot, but the latter causes the tendon to get weaker if done consistently. Lastly, if he decides to play through it when his wrist is inflamed, will that cause him to lose power?

Wrist injuries scare me. I'm not the most informed person but it can't be good for his hitting. :-o
Here's the pitch on the way, a swing and a belt! Left field! Way back! BLUE JAYS WIN!

I had tendonitis in my elbow, shoulder, and wrist all at the same time..fun!

Basically it's just overuse and additional wear on the tendon. I work on a computer using my right hand 90% of the time plus play darts every day, surf the Web at home, etc..I'm 35 and I've had it hit me on and off for 4-5 years now so it's not just an old person's thing.

It's probably something he can play through. The power may be affected slightly but I don't think night and day necessarily.

I've taken 2 cortisone shots in my life so not the most informed on that part of it but I know doctors use them sparingly..one can also take anti-inflammatory meds, heat, etc..

Yip, likely out again today..I don't like this!

Mark Teixeira-1B- Yankees Apr. 13 - 8:47 am et

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Sunday that Mark Teixeira (wrist) is likely to sit out Monday, when the team begins a series with the Rays.

We'll keep a close eye on this one for you. Teixeira has missed two consecutive starts due to wrist tendinitis and hasn't shown major signs of improvement. "We'll see what he says (Monday) when we get to the park," said Girardi. "Maybe we don't post a lineup until it's late." Nick Swisher would probably fill in at first base once again.
