Santana (elbow) threw from the pitcher's mound on Wednesday, the LA Times reports.
Spin: Santana threw about 45 pitches during a batting practice session. Santana will need to throw a few more times in the bullpen before beginning a rehab assignment and his return to the rotation remains unclear.

Santana threw 60 pitches over 4.2 IP for High-A Rancho Cucamonga on Monday... Angels want Santana to throw 75-80 in his 2nd minor league start this weekend, barring any setbacks they are expecting he could be back in the rotation by the end of next week... So thats about a week from now, hopefully all goes well!

Actually Yahoo is showing his start to be today (May 14th) at home against Boston either way its about as bad as Texas, but if this is true at least its at home...?

Kelvim Escobar had a rehab start last night and pitched decently apparently. According to cbssportsline:

Escobar goes almost five in rehab: Angels SP Kelvim Escobar, who hasn't pitched since 2007 because of shoulder surgery, made his first rehab start for Class A Rancho Cucamonga on Friday. He pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing one unearned run on one hit and one walk with four strikeouts.

Fantasy Analysis
Escobar is eligible to come off the 60-day DL on June 4. The Angels are preparing him as a starter, but MLB.com suggests he might end up returning in relief. Most likely, the Angels will want his stuff in the rotation, and considering he was an 18-game winner when he last pitched in 2007, he's worth stashing in all Fantasy leagues.

Escobar (shoulder) threw 59 pitches over 4.2 innings in a rehab start with High-A Rancho Cucamonga on Friday.

Recommendation: Escobar only allowed one unearned run on one hit and a walk while striking out four. Escobar's fastball topped out at 95 mph, a sign that he's not having trouble trusting his arm. If Escobar suffers no further setbacks, he could be activated sometime in early June.
