Chris B Young Dropped....Worth a Spot?

Postby scorched03 » Sat Apr 11, 2009 9:13 am

10 Team Roto with Avg, Hits, Runs, Steals, RBI, HR, BB as categories. I need a 4th or backup OF. *note avg and BB are categories*

I think my teams avg sucks already, but Chris Young (the AZ OF one) is a FA and given his ADP, he outta be worth more than what I got in the OF/Bench.

OF Josh Hamilton, Tex OF
OF Alex Rios, Tor OF
OF Nelson Cruz, Tex OF
OF Travis Snider, Tor OF
Util Adam Jones, O OF
Bench Cameron Maybin, Fla OF
Bench Jose Guillen*, KC OF, DH DL15

Is he worth dropping for Snider or Maybin?
-Chris Young is bottom of the lineup right now, and have no idea if that'll hold or not, but he's still a 20-20 threat...but can he hit his weight?
-Maybin's a free swinger so his avg will equally suck most likely because Bono is the leadoff hitter and he's hitting low... but for who knows how long. He projects as .260ish or lower hitter too
-Snider is 21, so he'll have his share of issues, but power threat
-Guillen is cleanup, so I think i'll keep him for now.
-My DL spot is taken by Zumaya, so guillens stuck there for now

Do you have a DL spot to move Guillen to and add young? If not, I'd still probably drop Guillen first, then Maybin. I like Young over both of them.

Yeah Young shouldn't be on the WW even in a 10-teamer. I'd drop either player for him.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

sorry guys, forgot to mention DL spot is Zumaya right now, so guillen cant go there.

Still on the fence. hmm i think maybin's upside is chris young's last yr. but still dunno

PECOTA Says: .265/.347/.429 in 588 PA with 15 HR, 57 RBI, 62 BB, 165 K; 23.5 VORP for Maybin

Couldn't have said it better myself ;-D

Until Young shows me that he can provide a decent average, I wouldn't touch him. Thanks for your help with mine.

Yeah...young is always on the FA list in my league, and for good reason. he's one of a group of guys who'd be the next OFer taken, but not worth losing sleep over imo.
