I see Shields got the save over Fuentes last night, anyone know anything behind that decision by Sciocia?

What does that mean? Fuentes still should have come out for the ninth. I haven't heard anything about this, but I'm looking for something.

Shields is going to get chances to get saves now and again but Brian Fuentes' job as the team's closer is not in jeopardy despite blowing an opportunity on Wednesday.

Yeah, I would think part of it is that Fuentes, while he did blow a game, also hasnt really pitched much lately because of his back issue in Spring. Scocia may have been thinking Shields was throwing well, Fuentes just blew a game, and Fuentes needs to be worked back slowly since he didnt throw much in Spring, so why not leave Shields just finish it off.

I agree with what has been said so far. He also might have done it because it sounds like Fuentes was steaming after the blown save. He may of wanted him to calm down while assuring him the job is still his and like said before Shields was throwing well. Just my opinion. I own Fuentes and I am not worried right now.
