Hey,
Need 4 for a keeper league drafting TOMORROW, Saturday, April 10th, at 3pm ET. Unique keeper format, here are some of the specs:
- Cost is $50, 100% payout
- Draft is tomorrow afternoon at 3pm.
- 5x5 roto format
- Each lineup will consist of the following positions: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF,
OF, OF, Util, Util, and 10 pitcher spots. The pitching arrangement (starting pitchers vs. relief pitchers) will be left up to the owner’s discretion, however the scoring categories require a balance of both. Rosters are updated on a daily basis.
- Since this league is designed to carry over from year to year, I have implemented a keeper option. Managers may carry over up to 6 players from their current team to next year’s team. In exchange for keeping a player, a manager will forfeit the next year’s draft pick where the player was selected. For example, I took Justin Morneau in the 4th round in 2008 and should I choose to keep him in 2009, I will have to forfeit my 2009 4th round pick in exchange for Morneau. This adds an interesting dimension to the draft, in that teams will be rewarded for picking not only the obvious first round choices and carrying them over, but also for making their later round choices count. Only the players on a team’s roster at the end of the season are eligible to be kept. If a player is traded to another team and that owner wishes to keep him and another player on his team who were drafted in the same round, the owner will forfeit the next round’s pick. For example, I finished the season with Joel Zumaya on my team who was drafted by another owner in the 16th round; since he finished the season on my team he is an eligible 16th round keeper for my squad. If I also wanted to keep the player who I selected in the 16th round on draft day, A.J. Burnett, then I would take Burnett and Zumaya in the 16th and 17th rounds in 2009. New team owners will be given control of a non-renewing team’s lineup and will be able to decide if they want to keep anyone from the past year’s team or head into the draft with a clean slate. Note: there will be NO free agent keepers! Given the nature of our system, trying to determine where or when a free agent would be slotted into the next year’s draft is too difficult, so free agent’s from a previous season will be automatically returned to the draft player pool the following season.
- Please E-mail me ASAP tonight so I can send you the available teams to inherit keepers from. Also, let me know if you intend on participating and if so, I will send you the yahoo invite tonight or tomorrow morning at the latest to get you signed up. Please shoot me an E-mail at
jeinaranderson@gmail.com so I have your E-mail to expedite communications.
THANKS!
John
