This kid looks like the real deal. Picked him up as the 3rd overall in our NL only rookie draft (Alvarez and Alonso didn't qualify and already had Heyward from last year).

First game yesterday:
5 AB, 4 H, 4 runs, 6 RBIs, 2 HR (opposite field)

I know he isn't your prototypical 3rd baseman, but if he can just be mediocre his hitting should more than make up for it.

Any thoughts on how this guy projects out in the big leagues?

I've read that he could be a regular 30+hr guy. I don't think I've read any doubts about his stick, just about his ability to stay at 3B with the alternative being 1B. I imagine he'll bust his ass at becoming a serviceable 3B because he knows he's blocked at 1B and his stick should be in the majors no later than opening day 2010.

The only question is whether he becomes a 20 hr guy or a 30 hr guy. I'm not sure which outcome is more probable: on the one hand his swing is pretty level, but on the other hand it looks like it generates lots of power regardless. Either way he's going to be a real good hitter at the next level.

I'm not sure he can stick at 3B as he has a Matt Stairs-like body.
