Hafner? .... Really?

OK, I am not on the Hafner bandwagon yet, but I will say this. His swing mechanics are similar to what they were in 06 when he crushed 40 HRs. I still believe he was juiced out of his mind that year, but his bat is staying in the strike zone more this year. Greinke made him look silly last night, but Greinke made a lot of people look silly last night. I am still very skeptical and he won't end up on any of my teams due to his UTIL only eligibility, but I have been surprised.

Hafner will be somewhere between Jason Giambi and Jack Cust in fantasy value, with similar production in each category. I'd expect something like .250, 25, 90, 90. If that floats your boat, by all means. I actually added him briefly, but dropped him back to the wire as I already have my 1B and Util spots occupied by Howard and Votto.

If he stops striking out so much, maybe I'll give him another shot, but he looked absolutely lost for most of the last two games minus one good swing.

I personally only do 12 team leagues and if you look at the last place teams rosters, you will find one similarity: Both own Pronk! (and start him too) LOL

Every successful fantasy baseball manager knows championships can't be won with Pronk! In basketball, that player is Dirk. In football, that player is Jay Cutler and in synchronized swimming, that player is Cristina Jones!

i've seen worse out of utility players, so that will do.

also, i must be a terrible manager because i managed to win a highly competitive league with hafner in 07. because everyone knows that leagues are won with your first few picks.

Obviously it wasn't competitive enough...
