I can keep Bumgarner as long as I want until he passes eligibility for ROY (50) and which point the offseason after I will need to give him a contract to keep him. Long term, I like Bumgarner MUCH better but...
Currently I have C.Guillen at 3B and could use Sandoval as a backup since I have Andy LaRoche currently or slot him at DH over Aviles, Polanco or Span. I would also be able to pick up another minor leaguer but I'll post that on the MiLB forum.
12 team league, H2H points league (so speed or power, as long as they score points).
My ETA for Madison Bumgarner is 2011. I'd hang on to Sandoval for now, he's here now and can produce, plus might be worth something in trade. I'd keep Span at DH.
don't know much about bumgarner, but I think Sandoval has a lot of upside especially with catcher eligibility.

(1) Catcher production. Is Sandoval eligible for C in your league? If not, does it take 5 appearances to get that? Who are your current catchers?
(2) Are you in a win now mode or building for the future?
If win now, and you are weak at C, and Sandoval is or will be C eligible, he is worth giving up Bumgarner for.
If you are ok at C, or don't want to commit to win now at the cost of the future before the first week is up, than keep Bumgarner. He is going to be special, but rookie pitchers can be flaky first and he won't be up till 2010 at the earliest.

1. Not worried about catcher production, I've got Martin at C. If Martin, becomes eligible at 3B, I could move him there and Sandoval to C. It takes 10 games in season to gain eligibility. I'm mostly looking at trading Bumgarner because I'm worried about C.Guillen who is currently my only 3B with Andy LaRoche starting off VERY slow. The FA options would be: Rolen, Feliz, Crede, Branyan, Blum or Scutaro
2. More of a win now, because there are plenty of top prospects I'd be happy picking up (Alvarez and M.Moustakas being my two favorite). My pitching keepers look like this: J.Santana (3 more years), J.Shields (3 or 4, will be determined next offseason), Kershaw (4 years), Chamberlein (3 years) and F.Rod (2 years).
when martin gets 3b eligibility you will need a catcher sandoval will fill that hole. he is in the majors now not in 2011. go for the win. otherwise try to trade bumgarner for a 3B.
