Hamels or Billingsley for Adrian Gonzalez WHIR!

Postby Hit Factory » Fri Apr 10, 2009 9:47 am

Hey there, I am in a 12 team 5x5 roto league. I am looking to improve my teams batting average and get a solid bat for my corner infielder or first base slot. I currently have Adam Dunn at first and Mike Jacobs at the corner infielder spot. I can't really afford to have both of these bringing down my teams average so I was thinking about getting Adrian Gonzalez for either Hamels or Billingsley. I could then either move Dunn to the outfield and put Gonzalez in at first and possibly even trade Dunn or Jermaine Dye for a pitcher down the line if I am in bad shape, what do you think? WHIR 100%

Here is my current team:
Posada
Dunn
Kelly Johnson
Khalil Greene
Youkilis
CI: Jacobs
MI: Alexi Casilla
Sizemore
Carlos Lee
BJ Upton
Dye
Util: Kendry Morales
BN: Cust
BN: Hank Blalock
BN: Juan Pierre

Hamels
Billingsley
K-Rod
Kerry Wood
Dice-K
Cain
Slowey
Randy Johnson
BN: Arrendondo
BN: Pelfrey

I would offer Billingsley and not Hamles. But you may be better staying with your current roster. By trading Bill or Hamels leaves a big whole in your staff. But if you want to make the move to get a better bat in your lineuo than offer Billingsly

Please help me out...

Hamels has too many injury-related red flags, plus more value on the trade market, so I might try him for Adrian plus maybe something else.

The guy who has Adrian Gonzalez doesn't like Billingsley, so I would have to offer Hamels. He has Volquez and Gallardo so I might try and deal Hamels plus a lower tier player for Adrian and either Volquez or Gallardo. I am starting to think that if I lost Hamels it might really kill my starting staff, after seeing Dice-K pitch yesterday I don't feel as confident. I would love to deal Dice-K but he has no value.

I'd do Hamels and Jacobs for A-Gon and Gallardo see if he bites.

AGonz for Hamels is fair straight up. If you want Gallardo, I'd think you have to give up Dye on the side because you don't have another fair-value hitter throw-in to pursue him. I think the same goes for Volquez unless you're able to get him for a bit cheaper.
