For me it comes down to how much you feel like you need K-Rod.

Utley > Rollins
Hamilton = Soriano (in my mind...some may disagree)

So you're giving up value in this part of the trade...if you feel like you really need a fourth closer, though, you should go ahead and make the deal. Personally, I would probably stay put, because I think that Soria/Broxton/Wilson are plenty good.

Dumbed down to Soriano and Lackey for Hamilton and K-Rod would make more sense for you . . .

No doubt this is right, but it would also make zero sense for the other guy to make that trade. He'd basically be giving up K-Rod for a hurt Lackey...no way he goes for it.

I've got Phillips who can take over for Utley and Lackey probably wont be back until early May. I would keep K-Rod and Broxton and try to shop either Soria or Wilson. I'm still thinking carefully though.

Yeah, see I hate making trades that force me to make additional trades. I would never trade FOR a closer and then turn around and try and trade a different closer away.

I understand that you have Phillips, but that doesn't change the fact that Utley is more valuable than Rollins (to me at least). Just because you have depth doesn't mean you should trade for less than value.

I don't like that deal for you. Soria's redic. era/whip allow you to use Brian Wilson to get you saves.
