Please Help...Ortiz/Atkins for Holiday/H. Bell....WHIR!!!!

Postby philaphan » Fri Apr 10, 2009 9:01 am

I have been proposed this trade in my yahoo league...Ortiz/Atkins for Holiday/H. Bell

I would be getting Holiday and Bell. I have Beltre to plug-in at 3b if I trade Atkins. I know Atkins has been struggling but is it a big drop off from Atkins to Beltre? This trade will help my closer situation since I have Soria, Ryan & Motte. I would probably just drop Motte and look to pickup a pitcher or position player off the free agent list. (One of these FA C. Jackson, J. Upton, Span, Crisp or Max Scherzer coming off the DL next week!)

Should I accept this trade. Is is worth it or should I just stick with my current roster?

You're probably looking at a 20 point BA drop and some in the RBI dept. as well but I'd say that is worth the value you'd get from Bell in return.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

I'd say to go for it. Beltre is a more than serviceable 3B. Not a bad deal for you

I like the Holliday side for sure, you're getting the best player in the deal, and you're buying low on him.

Help w/ mine?

Hey there, thanks for the help with mine! I think I would make this move, Bell would sure up your closer issues and Holliday is solid compensation for either Ortiz or Atkins. I think Ortiz is past his prime and will continue to decline this season, and Atkins has a groin injury that might hamper him this year.

Hey thanks for help on mine. On that note..
I think you should go for it. I think Bell will be a good/reliable closer and I also think Holiday will do you good this year even away from Coors Field.
Ortiz is on a decline and you can just slip one of your OF's in the utility spot
And I actually really like that you have Beltre at 3B.
Do It! Good Luck!

I'd make the trade. There isn't much to distinguish between Atkins and Beltre while you're getting the best player in the deal in Holliday.
