Drop M. Parra for Volstad?? WHIR!!

Postby DetroitTigers » Fri Apr 10, 2009 6:13 am

It seems that some people are high on Volstad if he can keep his walks down. Finished 2008 off well....Parra just didn't impress me at all yesterday against the Giants. Let me know what you guys think. WHIR!!

I agree, I would pick up volstad as well, with a year under his belt he should be much improved of his command. hope this helps and please check out my topic on a trade I was just offered.

I wouldn't overreact to Parra's first outing. I think you're looking at very similar stat lines between the two pitchers with Parra winning Ks.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

I would make the move. I have never been a fan of Parra though don't think owning Volstad will be a smooth ride all season. I'd go with matchups when using him.

Stick with Parra. He was a bit unlucky last year and while his first start was a disappointment given the matchup, I'd give him another try. He's a bargain source for K's and if he can keep his walks down, he'll post solid ratios.
