Yet another Roster question from me!!

Postby plainyogurt » Thu Apr 09, 2009 2:44 pm

I have been posting a bunch of ideas, trying to get best team for full season. Just completed a trade for Vlad and Kershaw (sent Hanrahan, burrell, cordero) I am kinda of regretting this because i dont want to be short on saves.

I really like my power on my team. Would it be smart to trade Alexi Ramirez or Tulo for a closer. If so what kind of return could I get?
Mi's available on the WW are lowrie, hill, polanco, fontenot, and burriss, iwamura, (any of these compare to alexi or tulo). Do you see any combo of players to make a trade that is good for my team?

I have fuentes,Valverde, villenuava, Rodney(how long will these close)

Should I sit tight? Leaning towards that, and wait till middle of season to make decision.
hopefully after this I want put starting so many threads :)...

Thanks a bunch

Hey - start as many threads as you want, that's what the forum is for!

I really like the trade you made (think you got the best 2 players in the deal) and think you shouldn't be too worried about saves at this point. Just as you grabbed Villenueva, there will be others like him who fill in (or replace) closers. Keep a watchful eye on the closers thread in Leftovers here so you're ahead of the game.

As you have to play an extra MI, I wouldn't trade either Tulo (who's looking good so far this year) or Ramirez.

One thing - I don't think you should be wasting a roster spot for Glaus - there's talk he won't be back for a number of months.

Hope that helps a bit. Good luck!

Thanks a bunch. Glaus and Escobar are on my DL slot. therefore they take no space. However I am gonna drop him and put Zumaya in that spot and pickup somebody..

Probably Ryan Church, or ian stewart or Jose Guillen.

First, nice trade to get Vlad/Kershaw.

Now, I think at this point you should sit tight. You're probably going to be fine on closers, and I don't like the MI replacement options enough to think about dealing Alexei or Tulo.

If you do want to make a trade down the road, I would look at making a splash with one of your big bopper first basemen. Since you have Miggy, Berk, Fielder and Dunn, you definitely have a ton of flexibility to make a deal with one of those four, and the replacements for CI/OF are probably stronger than what's available for MI. My guess is that long-term you're going to need to look into getting a top flight SP, and one of those four would definitely do the trick in a trade.

Thats what I figured. It is a LONG season, and somebody is going to need power. I am going to sit tight, and like said before I will watch out for Closer moves like everyone else.

Thanks a lot
