Mulder Vs. Colon

Postby Pogotheostrich » Thu Mar 11, 2004 10:51 am

These two and another pitcher were listed in another rank'em thread. The consensus seemed to be that Mulder is a much better option. I don't see it. Anyone have any reasons why Mulder is supposedly so much better than Colon for fantasy baseball?

Mulder has about the same strikeouts and wins with a considerably better ERA (Colon is typically in the high 3s or low 4s while Mulder appears to be low-to-mid 3 kind of guy) and a better WHIP.

I think it's as simple as that.

Mulder is also more consistant. Colon can lose it and get bombed every now and then, then comeback and strike out 17 in the next game. Mulder is 8+ innings, 2-3 runs.

Mulder is also the master in complete games. Colon is more of a 6 inn pitcher.

colon had nine complete games last year and 8 the year before. he is pretty durable guy that pitches fairly long into the game.

Last year Mulder averaged 7.16 innings a start and Colon averaged 7.12 innings per start. Last three years Mulder averaged 6.92 innings per start and Colon averaged 6.90 innings per start.

They both had 9 CG last year. Last three years Colon has 21 CG and Mulder has 17 CG.

You take mulder for the era-and whip totals...... hes proven to be more consistant.... his strikeout total will be lower than b.c this year.
