ok this is my main league and i didnt even notice that this trade went through until just now, so take a look at these apples:
c - ryan doumit 1B - jorge cantu 2B - emlio bonifacio SS - elvis andrus 3B - josh fields MI - aaron hill CI - adrian beltre OF - vladimir guerrero OF - grady sizemore OF - nelson cruz OF - brad hawpe util - kaz matsui bench/OF - lastings milledge bench/1B - mike jacobs bench/OF - carlos gomez bench/OF - michael bourn bench/1B - jason giambi
SP - johan santana, carlos zambrano, cole hamels, daisuke matsuzaka, tim lincecum, roy halladay RP - bobby jenks, kevin gregg, grank francisco, troy percival, carlos marmol
i traded daisuke matsuzaka and kaz matsui for dan uggla and ian stewart.
do you think that was a good trade for me?!@
i was also proposed chad billingsley andre ethier and edwin encarnacion (a guy who i had autopicked for me whilst missing 19/28 rounds of our live draft, and i cut him free) for roy halladay and nelson cruz
i'm thinking about seeing if i can get him to a billingsley/ryan braun for halladay/n-cruz/someonelike-lastings-milledge, cuz billingsley is quality and if i could upgrade another OF position to studly, i'd be able to ride santana, lincecum, zambrano, hamels, and billingsley to great things, as now that i've made this trade for uggla and shored up my 2B/MI some (tho i could use a shortstop) getting another for-sure bat in the middle would be nice, altho not necessary, cuz daisuke was seemingly the one to trade out of my lot of pitchers... but i dont wanna radically shake things up and destroy what seems to be impervious SP just to get offense that i might be able to get in-season, but wanna hedge my bets to get now.
so whaddaya think!?@ same thing applies, drop me a link to your stuff and i'll hollaback(, girl)
I do not think that was a good trade. Dice K is worth more than Uggla. I don't like Uggla's batting average and he gets minimal steals. Instead off Dice-K for Cruz, it makes more sense and you won't be giving up so much. Keep Billingsley!
wow, what's funny is in another thread where i asked what starting pitcher to trade everyone to a man basically said daisuke, and now that i trade him for what seems to be a solid 30+ HR guy to fortify my weak infield, almost out of a position of desperation really, it's a bad trade and i've undervalued daisuke. suitably hilarious.
i spose i'd be worried about screwing up bigtime if i wasn't also sitting on johan santana, tim lincecum, cole hamels, roy halladay, and carlos zambrano =D
so then what kind of hitter is a daisuke matsuzaka worth then?!@#
i was unable to pry any chris davises or brandon phillips / alexei ramirezes with him being the crux of the trade, d00d wanted lincecum, and i had no other nibbles on people who were drafted...
oh well.
at least i can sleep easy knowing this guy drafted uggla in teh 7th round and i drafted daisuke in teh 8th round, so with a mulligan having the rest of his team, he gave me a guy he took over daisuke for daisuke.
i suppose the only way i can validate this is desperation, seeing as basically i want to make sure i don't dig an offensive hole, and it turns out i really need bonifacio to get 3B eligibliity, that is if he manages to be the hitter i think he can be (obviously he's not going to be the ohmygod dynamo of the first two days, what with like 6/9 or 6/10 with 4 R 1 HR 4 RBI and 3 SB) but if he can be a solid top of the lineup guy with steals and runs and maybe hopefully 12+/50+ HR/RBI totals, that will be a big b00n, because now whilst i'm still horrible at SS at least between uggla, bonifacio, and aaron hill i'll have 2B/MI taken care of.
why do you ask for opinions when you dont like what you hear?
i dont think you overpaid. just watch the average with uggla. your team could use some more power, which i guess you sacrificed to load up on starters.
oh i'm just giving my opinions back and tryin'ta rationalize my moves, that's all... i guess my initial shock is to be a bit OMFG when i make a move that i thought was yeah yeah yeah and i hear naw naw naw.
as for this, the league is a 10 team 5x5 roto with a *75 move limit* (that's a whole different topic man, i think i might've killed like 3-4 potentuial trade partners by bitching at the commish/his-IRL-peoples about a move limit... i eman i missed 19/28 rounds of my draft due to thinking it was supposed to be 11am my time (yahoo usually tells you times in your time zones) but instead it was 11am eastern time so i showed up in round 20 and i was like crap, whilst i had ohmygod starting pitchign and managed to grab kevin gregg frank francisco and troy percival to ensure i'd be top 1/3 or 1/4 in saves, man, i had absoltuely nothing for offense... basically i managed to nab aaron hill and elvis andrus and i've been riding the hot bat of cantu and others to the point where 3 days into the season i'm somehow leading the league with 19 RBIs, missing kaz matsui's SB last night did hurt some, as i'm counting on carlos gomez and/or michael bourn to step up and establish themselves as a SB dynamo and i suppose i'm in that category of counting on grady sizemore to be 30/30 and hopefully push for 40/40...
yeeeargh. now i'm wondering if for the heck of it i see if i can work someone like halladay and a nelson cruz for say ryan braun adn chad billingsley... maybe toss in a lastings milledge type or something, since the nationals outfield is cluttered to say the least (adam dunn, who is for sure, then a mix-n-match of austin kearns, elijah dukes, lastings milledge, and the ghost of wily mo pena)
I like the deal where you get Uggla, because Dice-K is massively overrated. I like Bills more than Halladay, so the last one isn't too bad, though I'd probably rather deal Hawpe than Cruz.
