ARam/Zambrano for Peavy? He's a cubs fan...WHIR! *UPDATE*

Postby vykeengfan » Wed Apr 08, 2009 9:59 am

I offered another owner ARam straight up for Peavy to gauge interest. He declined w/out a counter but said this "I like ARam but don't have much SP behind Peavy." Should I send another deal, this time throwing in Zambrano? Or should I package ARam w/ another of my SP(Shields?) I'm heavy @ 1B(Votto on bench). My plan is to trade ARam, move MCab to 3B, Votto to 1B, and then pick up Ishikawa(on the ww right now).
Here's his team:
Batters
C: Brian McCann (C)
1B: Derrek Lee (1B)
2B: Dan Uggla (2B)
3B: Chone Figgins (2B,3B)
SS: Jose Reyes (SS)
OF: Bobby Abreu (OF), Raul Ibanez (OF), Coco Crisp (OF)
Util: Carlos Delgado (1B)
BN: Vernon Wells (OF), Justin Upton (OF)
Pitchers
SP: Jake Peavy (SP), Ryan Dempster (SP)
RP: Jonathan Papelbon (RP), Joe Nathan (RP)
P: Fausto Carmona (SP), Jered Weaver (SP), George Sherrill (RP)
BN: David Price (SP) NA
DL: John Smoltz (SP), Trevor Hoffman (RP)

And mine:
Batters
C: Jorge Posada (C)
1B: Miguel Cabrera (1B,3B)
2B: Dustin Pedroia (2B)
3B: Aramis Ramirez (3B)
SS: Derek Jeter (SS)
OF: Matt Holliday (OF), Magglio Ordonez (OF), Chris Young (OF)
Util: Adrian Gonzalez (1B)
BN: Joey Votto (1B), Jose Lopez (1B,2B), J.D. Drew (OF)
Pitchers
SP: Roy Oswalt (SP), Carlos Zambrano (SP)
RP: Matt Capps (RP), Heath Bell (RP)
P: Joe Saunders (SP), Frank Francisco (RP), Gil Meche (SP)
BN: James Shields (SP), Jordan Zimmermann (SP) NA

I think Ramirez and Zambrano for Peavy is a fair deal. You're giving up more value overall but getting the best player and have the depth to pull it off so yes I like the trade.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Try to get Upton back in the deal, then it would be more fair. As of now, I don't like it as much

i wouldnt do Aram/Zambrano for Peavy. your giving up more value. you could instead throw in someone like Saunders. i think hes way overrated. his K rate last season was only 4.68 K/9, and he had a .267 BABIP which is low. hes probually going to be back closer to his 2007 numbers than what he did in 2008.

I don't really like this deal... I would try throwing in a lesser P, or else getting back some more value on top of Peavy.

Thanks for the feedback so far, all!
I'm trying to open up a roster spot so that I can stash Ishikawa on the bench for depth. I guess my question would then be, who would I be better off having on the bench, Ish or Upton?
I might just offer him Saunders w/ ARam and see where that takes me. Then start considering CZam.
Keep the input coming. ;-D
ALL REQUESTS HAVE BEEN REPLIED TO THUS FAR!!!!

i would rather have Justin Upton than Travis Ishikawa.
ballparks aside i like the potential of Upton more. i think Upton has a higher ceiling and a better chance at hitting 20+ HR than Ishikawa does. factor in the parks and Arizona is easier to hit at then the one in SF.

i edited mine if you could help again maybe..

Saunders and A-Ram is a fair deal for Peavy, it's probably better than the one I proposed.
