2nd base help....WHIR

Postby da bears » Tue Apr 07, 2009 9:34 pm

Not sure if this is how it is going to be but I'm definitely not at all happy with Aviles hitting in the 9 hole. Thinking about picking up either Kelly Johnson, Chris Getz, or the sensational Emilio Bonifacio. All 3 have solid spots in their line ups, any thoughts on who you'd grab and why? Leave a link and I'll get back to you and thanks.

I prefer Aviles at this point. I'd sit tight for awhile and see how things shake out. Should Teahen not be able to handle 2B, Aviles would move up to the 2 or 3 spot in the order. If you're still worried in a few weeks, see what the WW has at 2B (Boni will have cooled off). I like Getz's upside, but not over Aviles just yet.

That's the 2 I am liking the most right now, just tough to sit tight on a 9 hitter who was very solid last year, when there is a guy who is probably going to be the White Sox lead off man this season in the coming weeks.

I have aviles aswell (though, backing up utley) and I was a little miffed by his spot in the 9-hole. That said...I'm sure its too soon to panic. If he stays down there for a while, and does nothing to warrent moving up in the order, then it'd be time to start looking for alternatives. Admittedly - if I was depending on him as my starter my outlook could be different.

i thin i like Aviles more than Johnson, and the other 2 mentioned. i wouldnt count on a .325 AVG again, but he could have .295+. his career minor league line is - .297 AVG/ .338 OBP/ .464 SLG/ .802 OPS/
batting at the bottom of the lineup isnt great, but think about it as if hes batting infront of Crisp/DeJesus/Teahen. batting 9th just means he probually wont get as many AB during a full season. he could potential go 15+/15+. in the minors in 2007 he had 17 HR in 538 AB, allthough that season with only 5 SB. the season before he had 14 SB in 469 AB, allthough with only 8 HR that season.

help?
