Votto hit my ww too! Do I have room for him though?

Postby go9ers » Tue Apr 07, 2009 5:58 pm

Here is my team:

C: Napoli
1B: Howard
2B: Kinsler
SS: Drew
3B: Atkins (1B,3B)
IF: Pena
OF: Bay
OF: Sizemore
OF: Dunn
UT: Bruce

B: Maybin, Chris Young, Kelly Johnson

SP: Haren
SP: Myers
SP: Vazquez
SP: Greinke
RP: Valverde
RP: BJ Ryan

B: (we have weekly rotation for 2 starters so more bench here) Wandy, Buehrle, Morrow, Floyd (2 starts next week)

I could pickup Votto, but would he ever crack the lineup at 1B/IF/UT, and if so, who should I drop? BTW, Smoltz and Escobar are also out there for stashable guys.

I would grab and just work him in, I would drop Maybin for him you do have a OF glut Maybe shop Dunn or Bay for a good SP, and play Brus in OF, Votto in Util

You guys must have some pretty shallow leagues then if someone like Votto would be on the waiver wire. He's not a guy I would drop that's for sure. Go ahead and pick him up, I would probably drop Chris Young and not Maybin though. I've not been a big fan of Chris Young the OF, he strikes out way too much for my liking.

I'd grab him for sure, I think he's in for a great year. I'd drop either Maybin (since he's unproven, you may be able to pick him up later). If you like his upside, either Johnson or Young could be dropped, too (I'm not high on either, plus with Kinsler you don't really need an extra 2B).

don't drop Chris Young!!!!, he is a 30/30 guy and should bat .260 this season Maybin .270 10/20...if you don't want to drop Maybin drop Kelly Johnson, but that leaves you weak when Kinsler goes down.

Drop Maybin for him, in my view (or Kelly Johnson if you have a lot of keepers)

While I agree Young may one day be 30-30, he strikes out way too much. He'll kill a fantasy team with his .230 avg. Agreed that he has more value than Maybin or Johnson at this point, but I'd look to trade him rather than play him.

When and if Kinsler goes down, there will no doubt be a number of 2Bs out there with stats similar to K. Johnson.

Thanks for the help - looks like some differing views on who to drop, but everyone is on board with adding Votto. I'm in a h2h points league that doesn't penalize for avg or k's...does that make any difference as to dropping player x to add Votto?

Useful fact! That gives Young more upside. Drop Johnson.

Yeah drop Johnson for Votto, If Avg and K's don't count in your league, then CY is a super star
