Why is Alexei Ramirez Batting Eighth?

Against the Royals today, Ozzie Guillen batted Alexei Ramirez eighth in the order, after both Paul Konerko and AJ Pierzynski, while batting light hitting Chris Getz second.

Is this gonna stay? Is Getz going to perpetually bat second? Or is this a one time thing?

It's unexpected but possibly it has something to do with Alexei's .317 OBP last year. 8th doesn't seem right though, kind of like how Gomez didn't seem right in the 7th spot last night.

I was just wondering the same thing. I thought he was going to be near the top of the order. Thome is leadoff? Hopefully it changes..

According to Ozzie, Getz could bat leadoff otherwise he will bat 2nd.

''Leadoff, we're going to start with [DeWayne] Wise at that position. If that doesn't work, then Getz," said Guillen. "Getz is going to get you consistently good at-bats day after day." The rookie will bat second on most days, but is plenty capable of doing a fine job at the very top of the order after posting a .324/.394/.438 line this spring.

It means I messed up picking him in the fourth round.

he is batting 8th because he can't draw a walk. I think we may see Juan Uribe type numbers with sone Sb's thrown in from him.

If Getz can keep getting on base, I don't see how Alexei moves up the order without improving his walk rate.

bat getz leadoff and use alexei 2nd. i don't think wise belongs in the leadoff spot. he should be #9.

I think that is the most likely scenerio but it is going be be a little bit before it happens.
