In a deep league (300ish players rostered) sure he's worth a look. Almost any highly touted rookie with an opportunity is worth a shot IMO.
Right now batting in the bottom of the order I don't know how much fantasy value there will be - but there has been talk of batting him in the top of the order if he shows he can handle it. He starts without much competition and should be given more opportunity if he excels so that's a good opportunity to me.
There's a lot of players drafted in the top 200 who I don't think represent as much upside as the occasional rook who catches fire. There's lot's of failure along the way so you gotta cut bait on most of them if they don't shine early and grab the guy who is showing some skills.
Albert Pujols sort of surprised everybody from day 1 and Hanley was an immediate force as well. Getting that next star player can make a fantasy season.
A hot starting, highly touted rookie also can represent some huge trade value even if you don't believe. If he continues to hit for a couple weeks he is going to be fantasy crack for the trade addicts.
There's a ton '.260 avg' projections on these rookies, but there's also a large margin of error. Maybe he bats .220 and he gets sent down - maybe he hits .300 with power/and or SB's and the Legend is born.
