Jonny Gomes won't make opening roster, boost for Dickerson

Rotoworld:

Jonny Gomes was told by the Reds that he won't be on the roster when it's released today.

Congratulations to Cincinnati on having an athletic bench to match it's athletic lineup: Jerry Hairston Jr., Darnell McDonald, Paul Janish, Laynce Nix and Ryan Hanigan. The one member of the group with any power has a career OBP of .274, so manager Dusty Baker won't ever have to worry about the bases being clogged up.

Seems like Hairston Jr. will take the infield AB's that Keppinger would have gotten, and probably won't eat too much into Dickerson's AB's.

CBS:
"News: The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that Reds OF Jerry Hairston and OF Chris Dickerson will likely start the season in a left-field platoon situation"

Dusty is a idiot, I can see him over thinking LF and platooning them. IMO Dickerson should start based on his spring, but he hasn't done much in the minors before last year.
Plus remember Hairston has a injury history, we might not have to worry about it come May.
Also Hairston might see alot of time at SS because Gonzalez is a injury risk ( he has already hurt his hammy this spring) and I could see Dusty playing him ahead of Janish at SS.
But I'm not gonna try to get into Dustys head............... 8-o :-S
