Huge trade offer!! Not sure yes or no..WHIR

Postby oldschool5 » Sun Apr 05, 2009 11:46 am

ok we are in a keeper league that goes to dynasty next year....typical $260 start point and salary carries over plus $1...i have been offered the following two options...i will also list out my roster

another owner offered Carlos lee $30, jordan schafer $1, Max scherzer $3, Trevor cahill or brett anderson my choice both cost $1

for carlos quentin $10 and i would throw in marcus thames cause would have to drop anyways

my roster

aj pierzynski $1
james loney $12
dustin pedrioa $5
yunel escobar $1
andy laroche $2
jason bay $9
carlos beltran $30
david ortiz $30
carlos quentin $10
Jacody ellsbury $5

DL= Alex rodriquez $50,ben sheets,justin dursherer
reserve bats: franceour $10, marcus thames $1, adam laroche $1

SP: lackey, kelvim escobar, jon lester, john danks, Aaron harang, micah owings, chris volstad, koeji uehara
RP: Brad lidge, bobby jenks, mike gonzalez, hideki okajiima, justin masterson, juan cruz

we also carry 8 minors: andrew mccuthceon, steve pearce, matt dominguez, tommy hanson, charles lofgren, austin jackson, josh lindblom, alcides escobar

So my question is take the trade or no? Im giving up one of best keepers in baseball for cheap
i wash this year with lee (wouldnt keep him next year) pick up schafer and two of best SP prospects in the game....what are your thoughts? WHIR

I'm not high on Quentin, but I wonder if you could get better than Lee for him (I think they're both overrated, as Lee's aging and in a declining offense, and Quentin's not over his wrist injury - his power is going to be down this season, and he'll be underrated in 2010). Lee's expensive, too, so I don't know if this guy is trying to clear salary cap room?

i'd stand pat on quentin. getting scherzer makes it a little interesting, but overall i think you're better off as you are.

Could you post his roster?

It looks like you'd be adding $25. Will that leave you with no room to make changes in the season?

Honestly, I would deal Quentin, and I love the young guys you'd be getting (you can keep anyone in the next season for only $1 more, so Schafer at $2, Scherzer at $4?), but I'd try to swap Lee if possible.

thanks guys...im intrigued by all the young SP he is offering...he has now added Jarrod Parker

so deal would be
Carlos lee, Jordan Schafer, Max Scherzer, Trevor Cahill and Jarrod Parker

for

Carlos Quentin, marcus thames and I may throw in volstad to clear roster space

his roster is loaded with young guys that are not cheap...i tried to get jay bruce instead of lee and he would not do it...then i tried upton and again no go...if i go for this i will try and move lee and probably lackey for another big bat....im so very tempted by all those young arms in a dynasty league where total cost for all four minus lee is $6

Thoughts? Good stuff so far...i have about an hour to decide....anyone else have concerns with quentin wrist?

I just proposed bruce instead of lee...if he agrees im taking it

deal would be jay bruce, scherzer, cahill, schafer and parker

for quentin, thames, lindblom or volstad....if he keeps it lee still not sure...any last thoughts?

I dont have concerns about Quentin's wrist and would actually do this deal because I like Lee better than Quentin and you are getting an abundance of young talent for one player and in a dynasty that is golden. I like it.

please help
