Last Prospect pick

Postby happyturtle » Sun Apr 05, 2009 8:09 am

So I took Stephen Strasburg in my dynasty draft and even though I read the rules it was perfectly OK, a few picks later the Commish tells me I cannot draft him. So I lost out on that pick because he didnt stop the draft or anything, and just told me I'm screwed for that round. I am pretty mad.

The draft is now over so I figure I will pick up whatever the best remaining Minor leaguer is. Based on the cafe top 50 and MLB top 50 the best options seem to be:

Alonso
Stanton
Matusz
T. Beckham
Parker
Arrieta
Villalona

I already have Heyward, Alvarez, Tillman

Thanks!

Alonso unless you want a pitcher then it's Parker. Though some will like Stanton (I don't compared to Alonso) or Matusz.

I wouldn't want to wait for the slower developing Beckham or Villalona when you have that few MiLB keepers. And Arrieta has good stuff but his BB rate is a little troubling.

Matsuz might get a chance this season. For Alonso it' probably 2010.

Stanton is farther off than those two but he'll end up having the most fantasy value imo.

I cant decide !

Another guy I realized is available is Ryan Perry. I am in a 16 team league so closers are pretty important. Is he worth thinking about or stick with Alonso/Stanton.

also, reguarding Alonso, isn't he kind of permanently blocked by Votto?

If a prospect is good enough there is no such thing as being blocked. Votto can play the OF and probably will get moved there once Alonso is ready.

...not to mention i think Alonso "can" be just as good if not better than Votto.
