I'm surprised there has been essentially NO talk about this guy so far.
August 'o8 ERA and WHIP: 2.29, .81 September '08 ERA and WHIP: 2.96, 1.35 Spring training ERA: ZERO in 8 2/3 innings
Obviously not a big K guy, but he obviously improved in the second half last year, was named the opening day starter (primarily for left/right/left reasons) and seems to be undervalued IMO. Is anyone high on this guy?
I was targeting him because of his spring. I was also pleasantly surprised when I was able to land him in the 25th round of my 12 team league. Hope he has a great season!
He is not a "sexy" pick as a SPer because of the lack of Ks. However, he is going to help in 3 categories (WHIP, ERA & Ws) and best of all he can be had late.
I got him in my 16 team keeper league in the 23rd round.
Just another reason not to take SPers with your top picks because there are players available.
The only thing I'll knock on Kuroda is he's really inconsistent start to start, more so than the average starter. Otherwise, Kuroda figures to be a great help in the ratios and can get in between 10-15 wins within reason.

Kuroda in Roto
Kurodo in H2H
Unless you follow matchups very very closely and only start him for his brilliant starts, he isn't as useful in H2H. But I targeted him in a few Roto leagues. I was just thinknig yesterday how undervalued he is.

I understand the roto vs h2h logic, but also disagree with it. Sure, he will hurt you some weeks, but he could also win you others. Guys likes that at the bottom of your rotation I certainly don't mind. And you have to think in his second year he will gain some consistency, no?
