M- Cab for Lincecum??? WHIR (serious)

Postby Midnight_Toker » Sun Apr 05, 2009 2:41 am

Ok, here's the deal. 12 team H2H, I missed the draft .... yahoo auto drafted me a lot of good Bats and almost NO Pitching. See Below! %-6

Bedard
Slowey
Cueto
Sanchez (SF)
Zimmerman
Kawakami
A Miller
Escobar
Porcello
RP - Lindstrom,Mike Gonzalez, Morrow

R. Martin
M-Cab
Jose Lopez
Longoria
Tulowitzki
Carlos Lee
Kemp
J Bruce
Util-Atkins, Ludwick, Bench -Jd Drew, Jed Lowrie, Daniel Murphy

Ok, so he offers me HIS Lincecum and Matt Caps for MY Bedard and Miguel Cabrera. I Know, my pitching is God Awful, and I need an Ace like Lincecum, but I have no need for Capps (he also missed the draft and has like 7 closers) and I feel Bedard will have a pretty good year if he stays healthy. Should my desperation for pitching push me to do this trade? WHIR!!!! Post Links!!!! ;-D

Not if you have to give up Bedard IMO. Too much for Lincecum. You've got the right idea in trading for pitching, though.

this one is easy....no way...mcab is worth more than lince....it should be lince and a better closer for mcab alone, and even that i would prob turn down

I agree with the others. It is too much for Linc....and I feel your pain with the way Yahoo Auto Drafts a team...grrrrr...

What do the free agent pitchers look like? Willing to bet their are a few hidden potential gems there....

Pitching can be picked up of the FA list easier than a top 5 hitter. I wouldn't do that trade.

I would not do that trade. I also wouldn't panic quite yet. I have played fantasy baseball many years with middle of the road pitchers. Since it's head to head you should probably at some point try to grab an above average pitcher, but you can also let some of your guys stream. I'd wait and see which ones start out of the gate fast and don't overpay in a panic.

I actually prefer to draft heavy offense then go after underappreciated pitching as the season goes on. Offense holds up a lot better than pitching. Don't pay for what they did last season, pay for what they'll do this season. Harang, Bedard, etc., are undervalued right now. IMO, you should never overpay for an SP (1st round 1B/3B for 2nd round SP, 5th round OF for 7th round SP, etc.).

So unless he also gives a solid RP or a second decent SP, I don't do MCab for Lincecum. If he throws in another good pitcher, then do it.

Hold onto Bedard, he's capable of low 3 ERA with solid WHIP and Ks.

Ok, so most people are saying its too much to give up Cabrera AND Bedard. I agree. The Free Agent pitching pool is pretty pathetic.

Adenhart
J. Mcdonald
Cahill
Uehara
Sean Marshall
Blackburn
Blanton
B. Anderson
Edwin Jackson

Anyone I should pick up? Escobar just went on the DL, so I can make a move. WHIR
