Someone just dropped Matt Cain. Assuming he clears waivers (I'm last on waivers) should I pick him up? If so, I think I'd have to drop Yunel Escobar. Here's my team. Tell me what is best!
Is it best to have another pitcher on my bench or is Yunel worth holding onto? Other SP's available that I have my eye on besides Cain are Cueto, Meche, and Galarraga.
I would pick up Cain without a doubt here and drop Yunel. You don't need him and Cain will be a nice addition to your team. I think having more bench pitchers is a better way to go than more hitters.
First, thanks for the help with mine...Secondly, I, too, would claim Cain if he falls to you...Escobar is on you bench while you would be playing Cain...He may not pile up the wins but he will definetly pile up the K's...(he also piles up the BB's, which causes his WHIP to be a little inflated, but I still think he is worth the claim)

Yunel doesn't have as much upside as people think. Yes, he's young, but there's nothing in his track record that suggests a breakout. Cain, however, can be a top 20 pitcher. I wouldn't bet on it, but it could happen this year. Even if it doesn't he's the best SP out there. Even if you can't grab him, I'd drop Escobar for Meche or Cueto.
Definitely drop Yunel for Cain. That would be a huge boost to your squad if you could add Cain. And even if you're last in the waiver priority, use your waiver claim just incase someone else tries to wake up early and grab him as a FA (saving their priority!)
