Looks like Escobar will get an earlier start. Escobar will (if healthy) therefore be more valuable. Smoltz will have better ratios. Both are high risk and may not last all season. But both are also high reward. Take whoever you feel will be stronger when they return. Escobar had a decent outing yesterday, but will he last?

good luck

Escobar b/c he'll be in the rotation backed by another solid bullpen. Plus, he will have more favorable matchups all year long. Worry with Smoltz he'll be back around June (Escobar you'lll have all through May as well). Plus, Smoltz may not be guarenteed a rotation slot they may force him into the bullpen (move Masterson back to the rotation) a lot of arms in Boston for few spots but some injury risk there as well.

I'd go with Escobar. :-)

Kelvim will see more action, while Smoltz may not even be ready before the all star break. Pick Escobar.
