the guy above is right. thames will be platooning, at best, for at bats. so far it seems like they are going to be rotating guys at the DH like ordonez and guillen to give the older guys some days off in the field. i look at josh anderson as the dark horse to get the most at bats out of him, thames, and larish. anderson will play LF and RF to give the aforementioned vets days off. anderson provides something only granderson offers in the tigers lineup, which is speed. thames and larish don't bring anything unique to the table except modest power that the tigers don't need. they need another speed guy at the bottom of the order which josh anderson, who stole 70+ bases in 06, can be that guy. leyland seemed excited about this kid when the tigers traded for him and i have him as a deep sleeper to steal 40+ bases this year with a solid .280 avg. thames has proved he can't handle full-time at bats when the tigers tried to work him in the lineup the past few years.
