I am debating who to pick in a home run contest a co-worker of mine is running- only for 2009.
I haven't seen Werth- but he had like 24 hrs last year in only 420 ab and is supposed to be a full timer now. While Morneau only had 23 in like 600 abs in a down year for him? What do you guys think.

I want Morneau. He's been more consistent and has a better AVG and SLG, which means he hits balls more frequently and deeper.

With almost 200 PA less, Werth hit more than Morneau. I disagree that Morneau's home runs are going significantly further, both had the same number of "Just Enough" home runs that barely cleared the fence. (source:

I didn't mean that Morneau would hit it further, looking at his SLG means he consistently hits the ball far. When you hit the ball hard consistently good things happen. If he keeps hitting doubles and gappers, then he'll most likely get a hold of one of those and take it out of the yard. Werth is good only for homers, BUT a guy like Morneau can hit homers in a competition if he wants (better than Werth in my opinion).

Morneau for sure! His power numbers will come back up this year and he has more protection in the lineup this year to hopefully see some better pitches.
