Don't like either much, but I guess I'd go with Gamel. FYI in terms of real-life value, Escobar wins easily (which is why he's ranking higher on BA, BP, etc...)

I'm going to pick Escobar as he's only blocked by trade candidate Hardy (who they may not resign), his glove will make him a regular alone, can hit for avg, and he provides the rarest stat in baseball, speed. Now, the reason I chose him over Gamel is because Gamel is that can only play 2 positions in the National League in LF (maybe) where he is blocked by Braun for years and 1B which is blocked by Prince. I'm abandoning the idea of him at 3B because its laughable to think he can stick there as he's worse than Braun was at 3B by a large margin. Now, if he gets dealt to another team, preferably to an AL team so he can DH, then I may choose him over Escobar. But Escobar plays a much thinner position and I see him producing very similarly to Edgar Renteria at his peak.

So you think Gamel will just rot away for 4-5 years in the minors because he is blocked? Of course he'll get traded...or someone else will get traded to open a spot for him. He's not a superstar prospect but he's too valuable as either a player or a trading chip to just have him sit in the minors and not get playing time somewhere on some team.
Thanks guys, good information, interesting read regardless. I'm still torn as to which to keep, but leaning towards Escobar. I don't really have much expectation for either this year regardless. The blocks at each position are wear I am torn.
