Hey guys. I'm new to the site, but you all come highly recommended from another fantasy site. I could use an informed opinion on the following keepers.
My league is 11 teams. 5x5 normal cats, but TONS of position players. All the normal plus 2Cs, MI, CI, 5 OFs and Util. 5 keepers. I have to choose from the following:
Soto, Votto, Soriano, Wright, Oswalt, Soria, Hart and D. Wright. So far I've got Wright and Soriano locked in. Now this is where you guys come in.
Soto: Want to keep b/c he is top 3 C, great keeper pick, and we start 2 Cs. Votto: Hits in number 3 spot, 20+ HR potential w/ high average and nice RBIs/Runs. Con: The two hitting i/f/o him, at a position where Youk, Lee, Davis and Pena will all be available. Oswalt: Every pitcher I have ahead of him have been kept, including Santana, Lincecum, Haren, Shields, Halladay, and Webb. I originally was not keeping him, but now thinking I have to, as he would be the best pitcher left. Soria: Probably won't keep. Top tier closer, obviously. Hart: 20/20 lock. 5 OFs start. Hits fifth. Got unlucky w/ BABIP last year, so avg should rebound. Really like him, but thinking he's the most expendable out of these choices. Still left for OF'ers are Manny, Bay, McClouth, Granderson, Abreu, Vlad, etc.
Help is greatly appreciated. Please pick who you think should stay and why. Thanks!
welcome! i'd add soto, votto, and oswalt to the keeper list. you can find good hitting outfielders, so i don't think you need to waste a keeper spot on hart.
I'm not a fan of keeping catchers, even in a 2 catcher league, and I don't keep Closers, and I'm not in favor of keeping arms outside of the top 2 or 3, and Oswalt is not one of them. Zig when they zag, so they're keeping arms, you keep the bats.
I'd keep Votto, Hart, and Soto. All 3 are premium bats at their positions compared to most of the replacements. There may still be plenty of fantasy aces like Billingsley, Beckett, Cliff Lee, Lester, Ricky Nolasco, even Javier Vazquez that will be available in later rounds.
