Percival for Cook - I think I want more? WHIR

Postby FantasySportsMaven » Fri Apr 03, 2009 10:43 pm

I've been offered TB oft injured Percival for Aaron Cook.
I am probably going to pick up Cahill, so losing Cook might not be so bad especially since my RPs are slim.
BUT, scoring includes IP and Cook seems good for 200+ IP again this year.
Scoring includes: IP, W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP

I tried using his desire to trade Percival into a multiplayer trade which got me Sandoval/Percival for Cook, Guillen and Hermida but he rejected that one. I am probably going to drop either Guillen or Hermida for Schafer anyway so I'd like to get something for at least one of them?

Should I take this deal?
Here is my pitchng roster:
SP: Billingsley, Dempster, Carmona, Cook, Lowe, C. Young
RP: Lindstrom, Gregg, C. Ray

As a rule, I try NOT to trade for saves, unless it's an ELITE closer. Closers are just WAY too random and it's only one category. I hold Cook in this truthfully.

help with mine? viewtopic.php?f=26&t=376243#p3015095

Cook isn't very good, so you probably can't expect much more. Pick up Brett Anderson or Porcello instead of Cahill; both have had better springs.

well, percival is 10 years older than cook, but he IS the closer. if you need a closer, i'd do it. i'm not solid on cook, and i think you could pick up some starters on waivers that could be just as good as or better than cook.

thanks for helping me. i see you're going to drop guillen for schafer. i have guillen too... you still think teahen is the better drop? right now, he's the starter at 2nd, but he will split time. i will never use him unless my starter gets injured.

I would do the trade. Percival is a closer for a potential contender, with a good SP staff. Cook doesn't do anything well, just an innings eater. I'd probably rather have a prospect with upside than Cook anyway. Do it ;-D
