Top 15 Picks

In a general fairly unspecific order, I've got the top 15 as RJ, Schilling, Vlad, Soriano, ARod, Bonds, Pedro, Pujols, Sosa, Giambi, Mags, Berkman, Beltran, Helton, Piazza.

Basically I'm trying to figure out who I could get with my 14th overall pick with your help.

In a general fairly unspecific order, I've got the top 15 as RJ, Schilling, Vlad, Soriano, ARod, Bonds, Pedro, Pujols, Sosa, Giambi, Mags, Berkman, Beltran, Helton, Piazza.

The one guy I would drop out of there is Piazza. Although he's averaging the #18 pick on ESPN's LiveDraft, I think he is considerably overvalued. His numbers have been declining, he's got tons of miles on him as a catcher, the Mets suck etc. etc.

It's also a bit early for Beltran.

In any event, I'd at least strike Piazza and add Tejada. Others who wouldn't look too bad in the #14 slot include Nomar and Zito. For my money, though, I'd stick with one of the ones you listed, drop Piazza and Beltran, and pick up Tejeda. Those are your 14, and any one of 'em will do ya fine.

you have to also decide what you want to do with the 17.
do you want one pitcher/ one hitter or not?
i would probably take KENT or tejada at 14 for the position scarcity and then beltran on the backswing 17.
(chances are the guy with 15 and 16 will take another of the top MI and a pitcher)
but it depends how comfortable you feel looking for pitching later.

I agree with Guest, I'd let somebody else have Beltran and Piazza that early. I think the first 8 you listed will be the first 8 picks.

Of the rest, I'd hope Giambi or Helton fell to you. After that, I'd go Sosa/Berkman/Mags.

2nd pick I'd go for Oswalt/Zito if they are there.

Anyway. I'll disagree with the second Guest on taking Kent with the #14 pick. Too early for him.

Your post doesn't state you have the #17 pick, which assumes a 15 person draft I guess, by the second Guest, so I won't speculate on that one.
