Peralta for Ubaldo/Buchholz? WHIR with link

Postby zainfidel » Fri Apr 03, 2009 8:46 pm

Hey folks!

So, I just got the deal of a lifetime- to damage my pitching roster in exchange for Hanley. So, now I have Peralta that I'd like to get rid of to ease some of that damage. Someone offered me the above trade- Peralta in exchange for Ubaldo and Buchholz, after I was trying to get Kershaw or Volquez.

I am in a 14-team, standard 5x5 head-to-head scoring, 3-year keeper league in our first year. My current roster is:

C: Benjie Molina
1B: Albert Pujols
2B: Brian Roberts
3B: Chris Davis
SS: Hanley Ramirez
OF: Corey Hart
OF: Adam Dunn
OF: Pat Burrell
Util: James Loney
Bench offense: Jhonny Peralta, Carlos Gomez, Jorge Cantu, Freddy Sanchez

SP: Roy Oswalt, Derek Lowe, Ryan Dempster, Kenshin Kawakami, Trevor Cahill
RP: Chad Qualls, Brad Ziegler, Chris Ray

As you can see, my pitching staff is in dire need of assistance. I figure that Jimenez is decent, and if/when something happens to Penny or another RS pitcher, Buchholz will get the call. Should I take the trade? What are your opinions on these two pitchers?

Thanks a bunch!

Take this deal. With Hanley, Peralta is trade bait and you're using it to fill a need. Both pitchers are young and improving which is great for a keeper. Ubaldo has the tools and opportunity to contribute right away. His K rate is great and he's a GB pitcher which suits him well for Coors Field. If he can continue to cut down on the walks he could be very impressive. Buchholz has had a nice spring and should crack the rotation if anything happens to their starters.

Thanks a lot, man! I am now the proud owner of those two pitchers. Did not know much about them, so I appreciate your input.
