Trade Bay for Adrian Gonzalez in a Keeper?

Postby twistedude » Fri Apr 03, 2009 7:18 pm

Hey guys,

I'm in a 14 team 5x5 yahoo rotisserie league. We keep 5 players at the expense of the round they were drafted in.

I'm thinking of offering my Jason Bay (8th round keeper) for Adrian Gonzalez (7th round keeper). Does that make sense for my team? I already have Quentin at LF and I like how I'd be getting a bit younger and some more upside with AGonz.

My Team:

C - A.J. Pierzynski (CWS - C)
1B - Joey Votto (Cin - 1B)
2B - Alexei Ramirez (CWS - 2B,SS,CF)
3B - David Wright (NYM - 3B)
SS - Orlando Cabrera (Oak - SS)
IF - Alexi Casilla (Min - 2B)
LF - Jason Bay (Bos - LF)
CF - Cameron Maybin (Fla - CF)
RF - Jacoby Ellsbury (Bos - LF,CF,RF)
Util - Carlos Quentin (CWS - LF)
BN - Paul Konerko (CWS - 1B)
BN - Delmon Young (Min - LF)
BN - Carlos Gomez (Min - CF)
BN - Mark Teahen (KC - 1B,3B,LF,RF)

SP - Jake Peavy (SD - SP)
SP - Chad Billingsley (LAD - SP)
SP - James Shields (TB - SP)
RP - Francisco Rodriguez (NYM - RP)
RP - Kevin Gregg (ChC - RP)
RP - Brandon Morrow (Sea - SP,RP)
P - Scott Kazmir (TB - SP)
P - Justin Verlander (Det - SP)
P - Scott Downs (Tor - RP)
BN - Clay Buchholz (Bos - SP)

i think i like Bay more than Gonzalez.
Gonzalez will have more HR, into the 30's. Bay could get into the 30's but i dont think as high as Gonzo. i like the Sox lineup around Bay rather than the lineup around Gonzo in SD. Bay is also going to add in some SB.

with your roster having IN you could use Gonzalez at IN? if so i think i do like Gonzalez more than Bay. you can use Gonzalez at IN and Quentin at LF then you have more options for who you can use at UT.

help?

As long as Bay plays in Boston, he has more value. I wouldn't do it.

I'd rather have Gonzo in a keeper over Bay, but they're close value-wise and you have Bay a round cheaper.
