Felix for some closers? WHIR

Postby MotorCityKitties » Fri Apr 03, 2009 4:39 pm

Here's my team. It's a 5x5 H2H league, 10 teams

C: Napoli
1B: Dunn
2B: Cano
3B: Longoria
MI: Hardy
SS: Drew
CI: Aramis Ramirez
OF: Braun
OF: Bay
OF: Granderson
OF: Pence
Util: C Davis
BN: Taveras

SP: Verlander
SP: Cain
SP: Meyers
RP: Bell
RP: Qualls
RP: Frank Francisco
P: Kevin Gregg
P: Chris Ray
P: Carlos Villanueva
P: Dempster
BN: Big Unit
BN: Oliver Perez
BN: Wandy Rod
BN: Parra
BN: Pettitte
BN: Marshall
BN: Cahill
DL: Bonderman

As you can tell I drafted offense early, loaded my bench with starters and I have approx 6 closers.

Here's the trade that's been offered:

I get: King Felix/Kawakami

I give: Gregg/Ray/Bonderman

I'm not very confident in Bonderman this season, so I'm not too concerned about losing him. I'm pretty active on the WW so I should be able to nab some more closers. In this setup I usually like to have 5 closers.

Should I accept the trade?

definetly make that deal. Gregg will blow some and Marmol will takeover and Ray is no sure bet. Felix has the potential to breakout.

I'd do it, but instead of Kawakami, I'd look to get a decent bat to put on the bench. I don't care for Bonderman, and it's only a matter of time before Marmol becomes the closer in Chicago.

I'm not expecting much out of Bonderman or Kawakami. I look at it as Felix for Gregg/Ray. I think having 4 closers is enough for you. Felix is an good enough upgrade at SP for you to make this trade.

my thoughts exactly.

This is a good trade for you:

Bonderman isn't worth anything in a 12-team league, much less a 10-team
I actually like Ray, but what you'd be getting back will more than make up for his loss
Gregg will get a fair amount of save opps, but I think Marmol will be the Closer before the years out

I accepted the trade. A lot of teams have followed my lead in this league and stacked their bench with SP's so there's still a ton a decent batters left undrafted but the available SP's are terrible. I'll hang onto Kawakami because I think he'll be somewhat valuable in this league.
