I'm very happy to snag Sheffield, I'll take him for basically free off the bench.

Any chance they start him at 1st vs. LHP?
Seems like a good idea given Delgado's splits.

i guess it is good to have a righty off the bench. i just hope he doesn't play much other than pinch hitting late in games against a lefty.

This is something they should certainly take a look at.

I don't mind the Sheff signing as long as he's ok with not playing >50% of the time or so.

What this tells me is that Manuel and the Met FO are not ecstatic with Church. Also tells me that they probably wanted Manny but were limited financially.

He looked terrible as a 1B while with the Yankees. His footwork was terrible and he almost caused a collision with the runner about half the time.

Sheff off the bench is not free. You don't think he is going to bitch about PT and talk who great he is compared to everyone else on the roster? He needs to get 80% of the PT or he will destroy a club house. And since only one projection system on fan graphs has him hitting over .250, he seems like he would be about the same, with no upside, as anybody else the Mets put out in RF. Who knows, maybe the just cut him.

As a brewer fan, you should take everything I say about Sheff with a grain of salt.
In my fridge: Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS), Central Waters Peruvian Morning, Bell's Batch 10,000, Dale's Pale Ale, Capital Brewery Amber, New Glarus Moon Man, and Guinness.

I think Sheffield knows what he is coming into. He will be a pinch hitter competing with Church for ABs against lefties.

I'm okay with the signing, if it doesn't work out, they are paying him 400k. If it does work out, they got a RH bat that they so sorely needed.

Seriously? You are relying on Sheff to be smart? C'mon.
