According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, the Mets and Gary Sheffield have agreed to a deal. Marlon Anderson apparently will be released after all. Sheffield figures to be used in right field against left-handers, with Fernando Tatis starting in left field against some lefties.
Murphy, Tatis, Church and Sheff for 2 spots. A low risk situation for the Mets, but this puts a damper on anything we thought Church or Murphy could be doing this season.
I don't think this effects Murphy from a fantasy standpoint. If Murphy hits early on, he'll continue to play plenty. If he doesn't hit, you're going to drop him anyway.
Seems like the Mets are more likely to cut into Church's PT.

as far as ive heard so far 400K/1 Yr
and i don't forsee it effecting Murphy as much as Church, MLB.com is saying he is strictly a reserve for Church and Murphy... i also have to think, yes hes played limited games here 9 career games started, but that he will also rotate in at 1B with Gado's off days... but then again look that the skipper, hell if he hits well and someone else struggles i wouldn't be blown away by him stealing more ABs, but then again that is the name of the game right?
