Matt Holliday? vs. Peavy WHIR 100%

Postby skjelstrom » Fri Apr 03, 2009 4:08 pm

I give up:
Jake Peavy
Johnny Damon or Ryan Ludwick (I was thinking ludwick because he would go for that more and I kind of need Damon's steals...

I get:
Matt Holliday
Matt Garza or Justin Verlander... (not sure which one to ask for)

My pitching is big but I need another solid OF and a guy that will give me decent SB's

Hey there, to be honest I am not a huge Holliday fan, the move to Oakland will negatively affect his numbers and I think he is somewhat overrated, I would have asked for Matt Kemp or Ichiro (his injury is not serious,) instead. You might be better off making a smaller trade and dealing one of your lesser pitchers, (or Ludwick straight up,) for a mediocre outfielder who will get you some stolen bases. Ludwick had a sick year in 2008 but don't count on him to replicate it in 2009. Check out Alex Rios or a similar player, good luck!

Help with mine?

How big is it ?? 'cause even though Holiday probably gets drafted in leagues before Peavy goes off the board, Peavy could have more fantasy value for your roster, so how big is your pitching ??

I have Peavy, Lincecum, Lester, Myers, Morrow, and Carpenter.

Lincecum - no question is great
Lester - lots of believers out there / not me
Myers - you could get 180 decent innings here - but a +4.0 era - hey ! just like Lester
Morrow - in the bullpen, will not make a start
Carpenter - I'm lovin' him, but ya gotta question the health

I'd be more inclined to find someone who's looking for a closer (Morrow), and get my speed elsewhere in an OF'er. Come to think of it, I'd rather have Peavy/Ludwick than Holiday/Garza-Verlander.

Yeah I agree. I think you should hold on to Peavy/Ludwick. I wouldnt be as inclined to look to trade Damon though. I think you would get the better deal by not even making one.
