Maybin or Andrus

Postby TrippySG » Fri Apr 03, 2009 10:40 am

So someone in my league is making a trade and dropping Cameron Maybin as a result. My question is simple: for my team, would it be wise to drop Andrus, who has a high potential for SB, or pick up Maybin, who seems to be a better overall player? I think Maybin willl post decent SB, while putting up a better average, but SS is a weak position and it would be nice to have a high upside rookie to back up Aviles. Please discuss...

i think Maybin is a better value than Andrus. Maybin is expected to bat leadoff for Florida. he could help with SB and HR.
you could put him in your OF and then maybe trade someone like Young for a better SS.
im not sure who you could get for Chris Young, but if you could get someone like Peralta or Hardy that would be good.

help?

I drafted Andrus and ended up dropping him based on:
bats low in the line up (9th)
only 19 years old
omar visquel is there

therefor I'd grab maybin based on:
top of the order
everyday player
I like him!

I'm going to have to completely agree with this one. Maybin has impact for you this year. I'd only be considering Andrus in a keeper league. Even so, at 19, I'm expecting it to take a few more years before you get the return on investment you're looking for.

i agree with them, go with maybin. hes in a better situation batting at the top of the order and i believe has more upside this year. He will do a little bit of everything for you.

Maybin should start for you. Andrus...not so much. Pick up Maybin immediately and put him in your starting lineup. Then sit back and reap the benefits of a great waiver wire transaction.
