i cant believe i'm almost 30 and still laughing at things like this

I'm over 30 and still giggle when I hear stuff like that. Yesterday in my ceramics class the instructor was showing us how to "wedge" clay and he went over to this little table and said "this is where you beat it." I loled. :-B

Amen. During my lunch today a few of my students had invited me to come watch them read their soliloquy down in the performing arts center, and I got to critique, etc. all in good fun. When I got there the English teacher asked, "Did you all bring something hard to lean on?" First thought that races through my head is, "That's what she said."

no i got lucky. it was a lady teacher and i could tell she had to hold back a laugh. i was able to get away with quite a bit because i was so likeable...it was always a blast being a smart-[alek] the first week of class and pissing the teachers off and then i take a test and they go "oh...i didnt know you were smart?". for some reason that made them OK with it :-?

That sounds very much like my High School career. Everything except the "got lucky" part. That had to wait until college. :-D O:-)

I notice a lot of stuff like that happens in school. I was teaching my kids about solving quadratic equations, and telling them sometimes you had to use the quadratic formula if you couldn't factor (I swear this story gets better...). When they started complaining about how difficult it was, I (accidentally) spit out this gem, "Hey, quit complaining. It might be hard. It might be ugly. But it always gets the job done."

Needless to say, the rest of the class time was pretty unproductive...

Too bad I didn't laugh at such risque foibles in my high school time. What I remember most about school was throwing stink bombs and Corn Nuts.

Come to think of it, like any Catholic high school, it was required to take religion classes and attend masses. This also included Ash Wednesday. There was a priest who spoke with a lisp and one time, he extended his hands over everyone instead of the ashes, and said "Lord please bless these asses". I thought it was funny back then and I guess remembering it now brings a bit of a chuckle.
