i could have a deal in place for a closer where i send Adam Jones and get back Chris Ray ..as ive mentioned here.. viewtopic.php?t=376041
OR i could offer Adam Jones for another closer like Bobby Jenks. i like Jenks potential more than Ray. the owner of Jenks also has Adam LaRoche. LaRoche is going to suck in April, but once he does heat up hes one of the better 1B from that time on. i could sit LaRoche on the bench until he heats up and hes money the rest of the season. i could include Derrek Lee with Jones to get Bobby Jenks and Adam LaRoche.
i give- Derrek Lee, Adam Jones i get- Adam LaRoche, Bobby Jenks is that good?
EDIT- i could forget Lee/LaRoche and instead offer Adam Jones and Felipe Lopez for Bobby Jenks and Khalil Greene. i liked Lopez multiple position eligibility, but i dont really need the numbers he could produce? but maybe the HR/RBI Greene could offer would be better?

Do you have to do the other side of the deal in order to trade for the closer? I know a lot of people are down on Lee going into this season but I value him quite a bit more than LaRoche. I don't like this deal.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
i could just offer Jones for Jenks. he is looking for steals and has 4 closers (Jenks/Cordero/Hanrahan/Percival) i was just thinking LaRoche is really good from May on and i could sit him in April. from May on he could offer maybe better numbers than Lee.
I think trading Jones at this point is unwise, wait a few weeks until he has some better value (better closer?). If you have to, I dont see this as being a good or bad trade really, if you need a closer that bad go for it. I could see Laroche and Lee putting up very similar numbers this year, but Laroche has more upside in my opinion. I just hate his inability to play early in the season, and he is very inconsistent throughout the year too. Also, the Pit lineup is sooo much weaker than the Cubs, even hitting cleanup in that order would be worse than 7 or 8 in the Cubs lineup as far as R and RBI help. Its kinda a tossup to me, but if you have to have the saves now, go ahead, I would wait till more value can be had for Jones though
I would be more likely to do the deal in early June than now. For now, I keep Lee and just do the Jones for Jenks trade. I think JOnes will be very good this year, but he has no protection.. only Huff (off the top of my head).
I would try for and move Jones for Jenks straight up. He needs steals and you need saves, so mention that in the note and see if he goes for it or counters.
