Trade Bay for KRod

Postby The_Idiot » Thu Apr 02, 2009 10:39 pm

I think I can afford to trade Jason Bay and plug in Spillborghs, Murphy or Schafer into my 5th OF spot. K-Rod would give me a heck of a Relief staff. Whataya think?

My Roster:
5x5 Roto Re-draft
SP Brandon Webb
SP Matt Cain
SP Yovani Gallardo
SP Clayton Kershaw
SP Ubaldo Jimenez
RP Jonathon Papelbon
RP Carlos Marmol
RP Carlos Villanueva

C Jeff Baker
C Jarrod Saltalamachia
1B Lance Berkman
2B Emmanuel Burris
SS Ryan Theriot
3B Melvin Mora
MI Khalil Greene
CI Hank Blalock
OF Grady Sizemore
OF Josh Hamilton
OF Nick Markakis
OF Jason Bay
OF Cameron Maybin
UT Travis Hafner

Bench - Aaron Hill (2b)
Bench - Ryan Spilborghs (OF)
Bench - Dan Murphy (OF)
Bench - Chris Volstad (P)
Bench - Jordan Schafer (OF)
Bench - Ian Stewart (2B/3B)

I would maybe look at using Bay or another OF to beef up your IF a little bit instead of trying to get another RP. Once Marmol gets his job back from Gregg, you'll have a nice looking relief staff, with or without Rodriguez. Or maybe get K-Rod and use HIM to get some more offense.

I hate to pay for saves in a trade, especially before the season has begun. You do have the depth to make up for this, and KRod and Paps would be crazy, but I lean towards no. The other reason is that I wouldn't be happy with Hafner @ util, so you would have to plug two of those you mentioned into your line-up, IMO.
The only way I consider this, is if you can work some deal out for a better util guy. Though Ian Stewart and Aaron Hill are great 'sleepers', I would like to have a more stable option.

Help with mine?
