BIG trade. WHIR

Postby skjelstrom » Thu Apr 02, 2009 10:05 pm

I give up:
Jake Peavy
Brian Roberts
Johnny Damon

I get:
Carlos Beltran
Robinson Cano
Javier Vazquez

My OF is very weak and my pitching is strong so i don't mind getting rid of Peavy. Im thinking Cano and Vazquez will bounce back this year, but what is your opinion on this trade.

I like the deal for you.

Beltran >>>>> Damon
Cano << Roberts
Peavy > Vazquez

The extra > in the Beltran side makes up for the differences in the less thans for the other two your are getting. I feel Vazquez is in for a big year with ATL, and while I have never been a fan of Cano, his counting stats should be nice in the Yanks' line-up.
You are getting a 2nd rounder and two nice upside guys for a 4th rounder, 5th rounder, and an OF on the decline.

I'm not as big of a fan of Vazquez as others but i'm not a big fan of Peavy either. That said, i think this is a decent trade for you, esp if you can afford to give up Peavy. You're getting the best player in that trade w/ Beltran, a fact I always keep in mind when doing multi-player trades.

Cano is lousy, but I still like the OF upgrade and Vazquez should be similar to Peavy moving to the NL.

I also like the trade for you, like stated before, you're getting the best player involved and the hit you take in pitching and 2B isn't so severe. Do it ;-D

I agree. While the 2 players you're getting less value in hurt, the value in Beltran vs. Damon more thanmakes up for it. Also, I think Cano will have a pretty nice bounce-back year and be a little closer to Roberts than you think.

my main problem with this trade isthat Damon and Roberts are the only ones with more than 5 steals in my entire lineup.... You think I should go for a speedy OF instead?

Beltran will get you some decent steal numbers though. I would definitely do this trade. I think it would really help you a lot!
