ARod Trade....WHIR

Postby Zhangman1 » Thu Apr 02, 2009 3:44 pm

I give S.Drew, Pedroia, Magglio, Konerko

I get ARod, Greene, J Lopez, Milledge

14 Team H2H, we keep 5 at the end of the year. 5x5 plus Hlds & OPS. Am I giving up too much to get ARod? or do I need to give up more.

I'd do it. I'm a tempering my expectations on Pedroia and I'm a little higher than most on Greene, so that's my rationale. Plus, I have no problem waiting on A-rod. All you have to do is make the playoffs and he'll be fine by then.

agreed...i think that pedroia is a bit overvalued right now, and i just happen to love lopez and milledge this year. and greene could be serviceable in STL, esp. if larussa occasionally bats him 4th behing pujols like he said he might. long as you have some guys to help your AVG stay decent until ARod comes back, as pedroia and maggs should both still be over .300. see mine? viewtopic.php?f=26&t=375854

I'd probably do it. When you have a chance to get ARod in a keeper league, do it. He will be a top-10 hitter for several years.

I'm not a big Pedroia fan - he won't be near MVP status in fantasy. Also, you won't be keeping Konerko or Maggs most likely.

Who would be your current candidates to keep from the rest of your roster?

You'd have to tread water until May when ARod comes back. Going from Drew to Greene is a big step down as well. That being said, I like Milledge alot, and he could end up being a keeper if he busts out this year with a 20/30 season.
People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.

We keep 5 and I had 6 Candidates in mind:
Pujols, Wright, Wieters are locks
Pedroia, Drew, Markakis are the 3 I need to pick from

Wow, you would be keeping:

Pujols, Wright, ARod, Wieters, and Markakis (my opinion for best of Drew, Pedroia, Markakis). That is unreal.

You'd only have to worry about SP basically at the beginning of the draft. Do this trade...

I don''t love this trade as much as previous posters, at least for this year (and I never worry about keepers over winning this year).

Look it this way...

Drew is worlds better than Greene
Pedroia is worlds better than Lopez
Magglio is somewhat better than Milledge

Yes, A-Rod is likely to give a lot more production than Konerko, but some people don't believe A-Rod will be back at full strength this year, so even that isn't a gimme.

Personally I don't pull the trigger.

Help?

Thanks for the help on mine.

Personally, I'm with Cypher on this one. You're getting far and away the best player in the deal, but I don't think the individual pieces add up. If there's any other way to work this trade (i.e., any other players on either side you can involve), I think I'd try a counter-offer first.
