Corpas or Ray? WHIR

Postby Larry Doby Johnson » Thu Apr 02, 2009 2:00 pm

I have Manny Corpas on my team and apparently it was announced today that Street has won the closers role. Chris Ray is sitting on waivers, so basically, both are 2nd in line for closing, should I pick up Ray or just wait things in Colorado out. Definitely don't trust Sherril to hold the job all season. Who do you think will get a shot a closing first/who will end up with more saves?

i personally like Ray over Corpas, i think once he has the job which from the sounds of things may be opening day, Sherrill put out the comment saying hes not up to par with his pitches and that he would gladly move over for Ray if it meant they were winning... where as if Corpas does snag the job from Street its not at solid IMO as once Ray gets it from Sherrill... so i say Ray...

help me out....

I have Kuo (dodgers) on my staff, who I could drop for Ray. I drafted him for the potential of 70 inning of a sub-2.50 ERA and 100 Ks, but he is very droppable if it means getting saves. Should I drop him so I can have Ray and Corpas?

Personally, I would stick with Corpas. He has shown potential. If you have another RP on your bench or one that you can pick up temporarily, I'd say do that.

oh and just another thought, theoretically he (Corpas) will be closing half of his games in Colorado :-o :-° .... you do the math by what i mean by that... Ray IMO has the better upside of better STATS, i think Corpas has the better overall upside talent wise, just not the better situation...

hmmm, tough. i know not everyone believes this like i do, but you have too many SP's imo. some marginal guys - starters always emerge, i try not to load up on them early on. personally i'd drop one of your lesser starters so i could get ray and corpas. but like i said not everyone agrees with this - if you love your starters i'd probably take ray. i wouldn't drop kuo.

i agree with this unless you have to start all of those guys, if not then drop Maholm for to get Corpas and Ray... if you have to start all of them drop Maholm for another starter cuz IMO hes not worth .02... i know some guys think he can get it done but i can't deal with a high ERA and WHIP with no Ws even out of my #5 starter...
