UPDATED AGAIN! even bigger trade, more help needed!!

Postby bazzy_51 » Thu Apr 02, 2009 1:53 pm

im in a 12 team h2h keeper league on ESPN... stats standard 5x5 plus 2B, BB, TB, OBP and Holds, shutouts, complete games, k/9

So the new trade im thinkin its also a yes but i think its alot closer now...

I Give: Josh Beckett and Jordan Zimmerman
I Get: Roy Halladay
im thinking im gonna pounce on this and secure a great #1 to combo with Felix/Burnett/Zambrano/Verlander/Cueto/Jimenez/Escobar

I Give: Nelson Cruz
I Get: Matt KEMP 8-o 8-o 8-o couldn't believe he said he would do this, but he proposed it...
agree to this waiting for it to process...

the squad would look like this updated...

C- Victor Martinez
1b- Ryan Howard
2b- Ian Kinsler
3b- David Wright
SS- JJ Hardy
LF- Jayson Werth
CF- BJ Upton
RF- Magglio Ordonez
UTIL- Joey Votto
UTIL- Chris Young (ARI) (Plugging in Matt Kemp if the trade processes)
BN- James Loney
BN- Mark Reynolds
BN- Nelson Cruz (Gone if trade goes through)

SP- Felix Hernandez
SP- Josh Beckett (would replace Roy Halladay here if trade goes through)
SP- AJ Burnett
SP- Carlos Zambrano
SP- Justin Verlander
RP- Joey Devine (waiting for him to go on the DL so i can pick up another RP)
RP- Brad Ziegler (took both Devine and Ziegler as m league counts Saves and Holds)
RP- Scot Shields
RP- Jonathan Sanchez (i know i need RP bad)
BN- Jhonny Cueto
BN- Jordan Zimmerman
BN- Ubaldo Jimenez

Minor League Squad:
1. 10th overall pick
2. 15th overall pick
3. 34th overall pick
4. 39th overall pick (if i dropped Jordan Zimmerman down to minor league squad this is the pick i would lose to do so..)

i wouldn't worry so much about escobar, your SP is pretty solid. that said i would pick up downs. he's the #2 guy behind ryan which means holds as well as saves if ryan doesn't figure things out. i'd also say that you could drop reynolds or loney for spilborghs or any other guy you like with upside. those two guys may have some value, but they aren't helping your team and don't have real high ceilings. maybe try to trade them first.

would you mind seeing mine?

I think you should take a flier on him. Verlander and Zambrano have some question marks above them. We are waiting to see Verlander return to the form that we are used to and Z has been increasing his walks and decreasing his strikeouts. That can only mean trouble. Thanks for answering my question before.

Zimmerman in minors till 19th when he will start.
Cahill and Anderson supposedly on Oaks rotation right away.
Escobar seems primed with new pitching coach to finally reach potential.
Glaus is good pickup if you can put him on DL and then pick another player. Tim Hudson same thin with DL as is Zumaya.
Not sold on Werth, Maggs or Loney so I might look for some speed on FA such as Schafer?

What was your question? :-D

I would definitely opt for Escobar and put Zimmerman on your minor league spot for now.

Hey there, thanks for the help with mine! I think you should pickup Escobar, he is rehabing very well and is his velocity is way up, he is supposedly throwing in the mid-high 90's. I might add Scott Downs, they are saying that he might get some save opportunities because B.J. Ryan lost 5-7 mph off his fastball and is just not as good as he once was. Lastly, I would think about dropping Mark Reynolds for Billy Butley, Span, Winn, or Brett Gardner. Good luck!

Help with mine?

I agree...I think you should pick up Escobar, and you should absolutely pick up Scott Downs when Devine hits the DL. Downs is a good holds guy, and they say he might get some save opps to start the season until Ryan gets his velocity back up.

Hit me back if you get the chance:

thanks for the help!

Yes, I agree with the above sentiment. Escobar and Downs are your guys here. I don't hate Delcarmen in a holds league either....

Take Kemp RIGHT NOW. Don't think about it, especially since it's a keeper league. Wow, that's great for you.

Cueto for Victorino is tougher. Cueto could be very good in the future, but he's not nearly as proven as Victorino. I'd prob hang on to Cueto based on potential, plus you have plenty of SB with Kemp, Kinsler, Upton.
