Big Liriano Trade: Should I Fight to Get Maybin Here? WHIR

I feel like this is only worth it if I am getting Cameron Maybin back. Also, should I try to offer Lilly instead of Scherzer?

What do you guys think?

I think the Liriano side is already a win so no I wouldn't kill the deal over Maybin. Also, Scherzer has the potential to out-produce Lilly but Lilly is a far safer bet to produce as expected IMHO. You have a good rotation so it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to gamble on the upside of Scherzer.

so this is his counter...

Is it worth giving up Scherzer AND Hunter? I was hoping to move Myers.

Should I counter with one of these:

A.) My Myers and Hunter for his Liriano and Taveras
or
B.) My Scherzer and Hunter for his Liriano and Maybin

Honestly, the one I would pursue out of everything is the Myers/Hunter for Liriano/Taveras. If you can get that one done, then I think it works out fantastically for you. You can always find the hot hand at the beginning of the season to help out your UTIL if you have to. Liriano is going to be a stud I think.

If he doesn't bite on that, I still like the deal he countered with, although giving up Scherzer would be tough for me. But then...I'm not very high on Maybin as a prospect at all having seen him a few times in Detroit.

maybe im the only one here, but guys like taveras are garbage to me. steals is one category, sure he kills it for you - but he kills you everywhere else as well.

I wouldn't let the deal fall through because of Maybin. You are getting Liriano and Tavares. Tavares has huge steals every year. He is projected to get 40 this year. (I'm not sure if your league uses steals).

Also, I'd rather give up Scherzer over Myers. Myers really looks like he is over the whole "I want to be a closer" deal. The Phillies are contenders again and expect Myers to be more consistent this year.

not to mention you don't need the steals - you're fine with rollins, sizemore, granderson, hunter, pedroia and lewis.

you kill that trade... why would you not take that deal and run??? Max isn't THAT big and hell Liriano trumps him BIG time anyways... Taveras yes only good for steals but hes good for bout 50-60 of them so thats worth somethin... i would take this trade and run sticking Liriano into the lineup instead of Max and slide Damon into Torii's starting spot then have a rotation of players at UTIL until Weiters comes up... you only keep 6 a year so you think Max would be a keeper over anyone else on your team anyways?? if thats a no then why wouldn't you do this, IMO Liriano is the better keeper over Max anyways... i know you want to move Myers, but if hes proposing that instead i would take it just to get Liriano...
