Converting espn/yahoo stat tables to excel

Anyone know any tricks for simplifying transferring stats, be it my own teams projections, another teams projections, whatever it may be, over to excel all in one swipe, and not having to manually type in each number?

-Copy all the stats from the Yahoo page
-Go to Excel
-Right Click - Paste Special (or Edit - Paste Special)
-Choose Unitext Code
...that should do it.

Only thing is that when I pasted, it pasted it all in one row 1, not charted as it is online. Is it possible to right this?

I'm not sure what else to try. I do that for Yahoo and it works. Were you trying ESPN?

This is a little bit messy, but it might help save you some time with ESPN.
-Open Excel
-Data - Get External Data
-New Web Query
-Paste in the web address
-Specify only tables
-Done

It'll bring a lot of unnecessary info from the page, but it put the stats into columns for me. Try and see if that helps.

When you put in the web url, you can load the page in Excel. It will place a box around each table in the page.

If you want, you can then check the specific table you'd like to import. That keeps the superfluous stuff from getting pulled in.

Ignore my last post. You must have done something wrong. I tested, and it does indeed go into one row if you paste like normal. It works just fine if you paste special as text.

You have to right click, select paste special, and then choose one of the text options.

Give that a go before using the web query.
