Drop Suzuki for Teagarden or others? WHIR

Postby Houser33 » Wed Apr 01, 2009 1:51 pm

Who would you start the season with? I know Teagardens' in a bit of a cluster**** but there is no denying his ability to swing the bat. Do I gamble on him and drop Suzuki? I'm actually high on Suzuki since Holliday and Giambi came to Oakland and I have a feeling his numbers will increase. Remember all the hype he had last year? I just dont know if Teagarden will get enough AB's.

Other catchers on the wire include: Flores, Barajas, Olivo, Inge and Laird.

Scoring is standard + OBP

Dude, wow. I'm stumped on this one. This is a GREAT question.
I feel just about the same as you I AM A TEAGARDEN FAN - I've seen him in person a couple of times, and he has this star quality, focused and calm demeanor about him. I don't know how much value you'd give that, but I think he's a steal. WHEN is the question for with Teagarden.

I agree with Suzuki as well. I think all the stars are aligning for him to have a pretty decent season.

Here's the good news, I think you could have a little time with Teagarden (i.e. you won't have to pull the trigger too soon).
I would wait this one out however because TEAGARDEN's spring numbers (whatever that matters) have been TERRIBLE. At least with Suzuki you know he'll have ABs.

Is Ivan Rodriquez available? He could be your an A+ temporary fill-in, until you know whats happening with TEAGARDEN.

I agree with the above poster.
Keep Suzuki but look to see if Pudge is on FA. While there, you might also check to see if Wieters is taken. A Pudge now and Wieters later Catcher position would be a sneaky way to get a top 5 catcher via FA.

Someone already has that exact combo.

Here's what you do... Get a crow-bar, corner him in a dark ally, setup the trade on your laptop and bully him into trading PUDGE and WEITERS for SUZUKI.
Problem solved.

I could always poison McCanns owner. Seriously, all retardation aside, I could use some more insight.

I know this is harder than the "should I trade Russ Adams for David Wright?WHIR (but not really)" posts that frequent this board, but someone out there must like to actually think? I hope?

Thanks for your help with mine.

I'd stick with Suzuki. He's going to have a good season and is guaranteed playing time, whereas Teagarden may only play part-time at best - and who knows how successful he'll be even if he plays more. He might have a great future, but that doesn't mean he's going to be leaps and bounds better than Suzuki this year.

I'd keep Suzuki as well. I think he will have a pretty nice year honestly. But keep your eye on Teagarden. Also another C i've been tracking is Baker out of FLA. I think he could put together a very nice season as well

Suzuki is more polished right now.

Texas is an interseting situation. I hear Salty is starting with Teabag backing him up. I would imagine their concern is having a stronger defensive catcher than a stronger hitting one, especially with the circus that is their rotation. I can't speak to either's defensive skills, though.

i'd take suzuki and be totally content. gl.

I would stick with Suzuki for now.

But watch Texas close.

Watch for injuries with Hank Blalock or Andruw Jones. Chances are he will get some at bats if one of those guys goes down. RIght now I dont see him getting a lot of time with Blalock as the DH and Jones sitting on the bench. Jones had a bad year, yes, but he will more than likely get the at bats versus Teagarden as he is proven in the past.

Just make sure you watch Texas closely for injuries.
